Fluorine Pump Free Cooling Solution for Aotong Intelligent Computing Center

Background:
  • With the rapid development of artificial intelligence and big data, China is accelerating the deployment of large-scale computing power centers nationwide. The Aotong Intelligent Computing Center, as a flagship project, aims to provide massive AI computing capacity to support the growth of the digital economy.
Project Overview:
  • The facility is located in Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with a total construction area of approximately 1,100 square meters. It consists of a modular data hall and a power distribution area. The modular data hall is situated on the 6th floor of Building 2 of the local telecommunication company, while the power distribution area is located on the basement level of the same building.

Project Summary:
  • Power Supply and Redundancy
The project is powered by two separate 10kV power sources, each supplied from two different municipal substations, meeting dual power supply requirements. Both power sources operate simultaneously, with one acting as a backup for the other. In the event of one power source failing, the other can support the entire load. IT equipment is powered by both an (N+1) UPS system and municipal electricity. Each UPS is equipped with batteries providing a 15-minute full-load backup, and all UPS units are high-frequency types.
  • Cooling System Design
The modular data hall is divided into three areas and features a total of 74 units. Data Hall 1 is equipped with six cold aisle groups and a total of 140 racks, utilizing 70 fluorine pump in-row air conditioners for cooling. Data Halls 2 and 3 each have one cold aisle group, each using two fluorine pump in-row air conditioners.
  • The power distribution area is also divided into three sections. The A route is powered by UPS and uses four fluorine pump room-level air conditioners for cooling. The B route is powered by municipal electricity and uses two fluorine pump room-level air conditioners. The battery room is cooled by two additional fluorine pump room-level air conditioners.
Key Features:
  • Dual independent power sources for high reliability
(N+1) UPS configuration with high-frequency UPS units
Advanced fluorine pump air conditioning for both in-row and room-level cooling
Modular design allowing flexible expansion and efficient operation
