Data halls

Fan-wall data center

Fan walls supply air horizontally across contained rack rows, without requiring a raised floor.

Cooling approach
Fan-wall cooling with hot-aisle containment
Deployment
Modular halls with room-level air cooling
Solution planning range
Up to 25 kW per cabinet

Overview

Organize the supply and return air paths

Enclosed hot aisles collect server exhaust while fan-wall units circulate cooling air across the rack rows. This horizontal airflow layout does not require a raised floor.

Rack modules

Enclose the hot aisles

Coordinate the rack rows and containment with access doors and maintenance routes.

Room airflow

Use horizontal air distribution

Place the fan walls to serve the rack inlets and receive the contained return air.

Cooling interfaces

Coordinate the site connections

Confirm how the fan walls connect to the facility cooling system and define duty and standby operation.

Reference configuration

Duty + standby: 2 + 1 means two duty units and one standby unit.

This example is not a fixed bill of materials. Final equipment selection, capacity and redundancy depend on the IT requirements and site operating conditions.

Technology

Inside the system

Horizontal supply air without a raised floor

The fan-wall design uses horizontal, distributed air supply and enclosed hot aisles. A large heat-exchange surface and a low-air-resistance coil support the airflow strategy.
